95 Pts Wine Enthusiast![]() "Our wine of the year in 2007 (the ’04 El Puntido) is back with a vengeance in the 2005 vintage. This is a deep-fruited modern specimen with that elusive mix of floral, fruit and meaty characteristics. The palate is ripe and everlasting, with berry, coffee and hickory flavors. Long and calm on the finish, with amazing texture. An excellent encore to the prior year’s achievement."
"The 2005 El Puntido is 100% Tempranillo sourced from a vineyard of the same name planted in 1975. Malolactic fermentation was sur lie in new French oak for four months followed by 18 months in new French barriques. Purple/black-colored with a brooding nose of great promise, it shows off notes of new oak, crushed stone, scorched earth, roasted herbs, incense, and blackberry. Voluminous yet elegant on the palate, it is mouth-filling and rich with gobs of fruit and plenty of ripe tannin. Give this lengthy effort 6-8 years of cellaring and drink it from 2016 to 2030." 94 Points - Jay Miller - Wine Advocate $39.98 on Sale

91-93 Pts IWC![]() "Saturated medium ruby. Aromas of black raspberry, minerals, smoked meat, licorice and crushed rock; showing its syrah side. Then silky and sweet in the mouth, with terrific mineral lift to the musky dark berry flavors. Finishes very long, with sweet, layered tannins. Boasts a texture of liquid velvet, but the minerally aftertaste offers excellent grip."

95 Pts Wine Advocate![]() Elderton Ashmead Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 "The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Ashmead is a single vineyard selection aged for 18 months in new French 300-liter barrels (aka hogsheads). It offers up a superb bouquet of pain grille, pencil lead, scorched earth, espresso, spice box, black currant, and blackberry liqueur. Opulent on the palate, it has gobs of succulent black fruit, well-concealed ripe tannins, impeccable balance, and a long finish. Cellar it for 5-7 years and drink it from 2014 to 2028."
"Opaque ruby color. Powerfully scented bouquet of spicy red and dark berry liqueurs, cherry, mocha and incense. Lush and creamy on the palate, with flavors of blackberry, boysenberry and succulent herbs. Tannins slowly build on the focused, spicy finish." -91 Pts- Josh Raynolds- International Wine Cellar $59.98 on Sale

94 Pts Gary Vaynerchuk![]() Chateau Sansonnet La Reserve 2006 "This is the first vintage in which renowned winemaker Stephan Derenoncourt had total control of the production of the winery. If you thought previous vintages were great, you are in for a serious ride with the 2006. His influence is undeniable for it's elegance, power, balance and complexity, while still maintaining it's St. Emilion roots. 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc. I was lucky enough to blend this with Stephan and the effort is easily one of the best of all the La Reserves, this is a must own."
The chateau's cuvee is 82% Merlot and 18% Cabernet Franc, and also composed of mainly younger vines. $49.98 on Sale
